To be effective, TBWM requires a single Greek text as its base for translation and analysis. I use the Textus Receptus (TR). The TR, meaning “Received Text,” was the Greek foundation for the King James Version, refined by Scrivener to mirror the 1611 translators’ work.
Specifically, I use F.H.A. Scrivener’s 1881 edition, because it provides a stable, accessible text suitable for the purposes of this project.
At points where other major editions (such as NA/UBS) differ in meaningful ways, those differences are discussed as appropriate. I believe God has faithfully preserved His Word, and studying the Greek New Testament is one way of appreciating that preservation. The goal of this project is not to advocate for one printed edition over another, but to help readers engage the Greek New Testament directly.
