The Third Epistle of John is a gem of a book. I started with this book because I created a comprehensive method for studying Bible books and this book was short enough to test the method and refine it. What a surprise it was to find such richness in such a compact epistle. There’s surely a message in that. Join the discussion, your comments are welcome!

Observations
Love in the truth
3JN 1:1 *; 2JN 1:1; 1JN 3:18
John has especially emphasized this concept of “love in the truth.” He mentions it both in 2 John and 3 John. He seems to define it in 1 John, at least by way of contrast: love not in word, love not in tongue, but love in deed and in truth.
