The truth that Gaius has in him and that he walks in, is God. His Word, His commandments, His instructions, His precepts, his whole counsel. John can’t hold back his joy–it comes bubbling out–because of Gaius’ commitment to God. God loves to commend His servants for doing right, and even within that commendation, God is still instructing and coaching Gaius (vv. 11, e.g.)
